Larson for Idaho's Platform

Three Lenses: Local Focus, Freedom, and Economy

1. Local Focus

We need to be able to solve our problems locally without constraints and controls applied by the state. Affordable housing is one of the top issues for local businesses. Yet, the state is trying to restrict local governments ability to problem solve. Our local hospital system no longer provides gynocological or obstetrics for women. This curtails the ability of local businesses to hire employees between 20-40. These are local issues that our legislators should be trying to solve. Let's collaboratively work on ways to restore this service. This shouldn't be a divisive issue.

2. Freedom

Freedom doesn't mean letting the biggest bully dictate decisions for the rest of us. We need the freedom of knowing that our children will get the same high quality education here in District 1 as the students in Boise or Boston. We need the freedom to be able to allow our children to read books that expand their minds and transport them to new places.

3. An Economy that works for all

We have a diverse ecosystem of businesses in District 1. Sound economic policy encourages our local  businesses to thrive. The role of the state should be to remove the roadblocks and ensure that we have an infrastructure that supports a healthy quality of life.  Most of our citizens are middle class. We need to ensure that they are not spending disproportional amounts of their income on housing, childcare, taxes, and other necessities. Discretionary income fuels economies. You deserve elected officials who legislate to encourage the health of our businesses and workers.

My Platform

High quality education and opportunities

Affordable, accessible healthcare for all

Affordable, accessible healthcare for all

We need to fund our schools, protect our libraries, and provide economic opportunities for our young people.

Education supports:

  1. Local - We value our schools and an educated populace.
  2. Freedom - An education creates opportunity for everyone.
  3. An Economy that Works - A high school degree, and each degree or certification after, increases economic opportunity.

Education

Affordable, accessible healthcare for all

We must restore healthcare for women and ensure financial viability of our rural healthcare providers.

Healthcare supports:

  1. Local - We want everyone to have access to safe, excellent healthcare.
  2. Freedom - We are not free when politicians are making our medical decisions.
  3. An Economy that Works - To attract the best workers to our community, we must have adequate healthcare for the whole family.

Healthcare

Planned infrastructure to support growth

Affordable, accessible healthcare for all

Planned infrastructure to support growth

Our infrastructure is aging and growth is high. Planned infrastructure investment is required.

Infrastructure supports:

  1. Local - Our infrastructure is necessary for all functions of life.
  2. Freedom - We are not free if we have no affordable housing with access to basic facilities.
  3. An Economy that Works - Basic, reliable, sustainable infrastructure is essential for a thriving local business ecosystem.

Infrastructure

I'll work to find opportunities and solve problems for District 1.
